Sales Tax Compliance and Reporting

Death and taxes...

While these are constantly with us, the sales tax issue has become a bit more compelling since "Wayfair vs. South Dakota" was decided by the Supreme Court in favor of South Dakota on June 21, 2018.  The Court's 5–4 majority decision overturned the 1992 decision in "Quill vs. North Dakota", ruling that the physical presence rule decided in Quill was "unsound and incorrect" in the current age of internet technology.

We can handle all aspects of your sales tax requirements from nexus studies through registrations, VDA's, sales tax automation, audit defense etc.

Of course, you don't wish to ever have to deal with adverse sales tax audit findings. To help you achieve this goal, we can manage your sales tax collection, reporting, and remittance responsibilities.  We'll perform this work on an on-going basis, for an agreed-upon monthly fee.

We offer this service primarily through Avalara's "Avatax" cloud-based sales tax engine, when used in conjunction with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Avalara offers an excellent sales tax solution that integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.  In fact, we use it to automate our sales tax processing within our own implementation of Business Central.

If you aren’t currently using an automated sales tax solution, we can help you with implementation.  We essentially perform the "client-side" of the implementation and interface on your behalf directly with the Avalara "Client Account Manager" assigned to your implementation.  Once we've had a chance to discuss your situation, and the scope of our engagement, we'll be able to quote you a fixed amount for our involvement in the project.

The Avalara Avatax app is available on Microsoft AppSource.  To find the Avatax app from within Business Central, use the magnifying glass to find "Extensions".  From the Extensions page, click on the "Extension Marketplace" action.
